I Have A Strange Question
Lots of background: the unsinkable Laura Baumbach is starting a GLBT chapter for RWA in the hopes of getting RWA to deign to acknowledge GLBT romance. While I heartily support her effort, I've never thought of joining RWA because I don't think of myself as a romance writer. But then, after thinking about it, while I don't write in the genre style of romance, my stories are about relationships, and more often than not, they end up happily for now (after lots and lots of hot, steamy sex). So I'm throwing this question out as I try to figure out if I should join the revolution or just wave my pompons from the sidelines: Do you read my stories for the sex or for the relationship? |

I read your stories for the relationships and the sex, if I had to choose, it would be the characters and the relationships. The term 'romance' is not as clearcut anymore, but to me it is relationship/character driven books, usually two or three main characters who end up together by the end of the book; hopefully with a hea. A lot of 'straight' romance covers everything from menages/paranormal/alien/bdsm etc etc. But I know my grandmother would have a fit if she picked up a lot of books in the romance section of bookshops, or even from my bookcase.
cheers,
Lin
